Contents
Based on individual examples, the lecture introduces the subject areas of cultural analysis and presents selected phenomena, concepts, theories, and methods. The integrated module of the participating study programs in film studies, cultural anthropology, and theater studies is divided into thematic units such as “Mediality and Perception,” “Performance, Ritual, and Text,” “Urban Space,” “Politics of Representation,” “Postdigital Cultures,” “Theatricality and Embodiment,” and “Memory Cultures,” which are distributed over the winter and summer semesters.Each unit presents insightful phenomena and relevant concepts in cultural analysis. Complementary to the lecture (or Vorlesung, VL), there are thematically coordinated reading courses (or Proseminare, PS) in which the lecture topics are explored in greater depth, whereas the lecture places the topics in larger methodological, theoretical and content-related contexts.
